Sometimes the mountain
is hidden from me in veils
of cloud, sometimes
I am hidden from the mountain
in veils of inattention, apathy, fatigue,
when I forget or refuse to go
down to the shore or a few yards
up the road, on a clear day,
to reconfirm
that witnessing presence.

O Eternal Light,
Shine into our hearts;
Help us to have patience with everything unresolved,
And strive to love the process of living.
Steer our course to where the mind is without fear
And the head is held high
To where knowledge is free,
To where the world has not been broken
Into fragments by narrow walls,
To where words come from the depths of truth,
To where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way,
To where the heart is led forward by ever widening
Circles of love.
Eternal Wisdom,
Scatter our ignorance,
That we may see the truth in each present moment
And live our way into fulfillment.
